Both Public Servers are offline until I start receiving regular donations.
I am not willing to pay for these anymore.
come on all you "sick gamers" get some cash for fax!!!
so far this year the price of running the servers is £1000, i've personally paid out £700 leaving only £300 in donations, however as of late since chris/matty/wolfy left, the donations seem to be getting rather dry. currently the only people donating are remo & purdy
i'm not asking for everyone to pay for it all, but i want regular donations to cover at least 1/2 of the cost, cause the way i see it everyone wants something for free, but i'm afraid its not gonna happen anymore

best thing with the dedi we got is the ip range, 82 is very popular with uk & european players and will get displayed on the public listing alot more often than other ip ranges, plus with a dedi u can always change what game / mods ur running etc
even a fiver from like 10 people would help alot im sure

I would like to donate, but I have no regular income at the moment. All I can say is by removing the public servers, you get less publicity, less advertising, and then less donations.
You just have to hold up through the rough patch, instead of bailing like this.
i know, problem is i've tried the stalling in the past and it did help for that month but soon after it goes back :(
i'm gonna put the servers back up for now, but i will advertise admin for money for public players as i don't think i'm gonna get far with the current clan members :(

Just because they can't give the money doesn't mean they don't contribute in 1 way or another. Just because you have some cash to throw around doesn't make you so 'high and mighty'. If you actually wanted to help out you'd ask POLITELY (because demanding wont get you anywhere sir) for donations.
I will donate a couple bob when I get a job, I'm on SD a good 6 hours a day or so :S.

Why don't you run a monthly tournament for the clan and public players.
So say, (FOR EXAMPLE) public player on the server with most kills at the end of the 30 minutes recieves prize money of £50 straight up, if 20 people chipped in a fiver each to jump into the tournament that's £100, 2nd and 3rd place gets to enter the tournament for free next month.
So you've just made £50 for running a tournament, do this for 12 months and you've just made £600 / £1000. Obviously this is a suggestion with no thought put into it, you'd have to think about getting a list of players who would be up for this, admins to watch over the tourny etc. You'd probably even have to go to valve for a license (they're almighty sad like this).
Even if it's just clan members and close community members / public players, i'm sure a few people would be interested in doing this.
Plus it's easy pickings for me. I could do with an extra £50 a month =)

The new changes suck :(.
Custom skins is 1 step away from Quake sounds and de_dolls. As well as Auto-Assign only fucking up the team balance. It's public, as soon as 1 team gets stacked now that's it for 20 minutes. Being able to choose your own team made things more balanced, as the better on the teams can switch to the other team to even things out a bit. Plus now the losing team will never have enough for an AWP, you can't expect people to eco it on public.
It was fine a week ago, now it's just another kiddie server, no different from the others. The reason SD always stood out to me was because it was a stand up basic server, with the extra money boost so you were able to actually carry a team every round. Now it's just a mediocre pub server with better servers out there :/.
The more you drive the server+site forward for the worst, the more you'll lose the older players. And it's the older players who are most likely to help out & donate.
Change it back please :(.
i agree with a lot of what taterz is saying. I feel the more you police a server in terms of not allowing ppl to make their own choices etc detracts from wanting to return to that server. For example i loved rasta DM, i would go on and try out diff sense's get to like 100 frags then retry with another sense and start again, now when u do that it slays u every other time u spawn for playing the same round. Stupid addidtion just come some admind didnt like ppl retrying.
Anyway stuff like skins and stuff i dont see a problem, at the end of the day cl_minmodels sorts tht.
Im sure u guys will find a happy medium once you get some more feedback ;]

I get abused by the admins enough though :( :P.
only problem is, if we change the settings then theres nothing we can other for ppl to donate other than admin and i don't want to give out admin to random ppl as it will most likely cause alot of problems, however clan members / donaters (that i know) will have greater admin - which I haven't yet changed, I will probably put the "fun options" back on, but we need to keep the settings to help generate funds :)

3 - am looking for some atm, but most cause alot of errors to appear in console, but i do want special skins aswell :)

blatently got to have the skin with the normal ct with "Admin" written on the back, or SD-Gaming or something, i would pay to have that. tbh fax, i have my solo card now so im willing to donate monthly, its just i dont play games anymore, make something big exciting and attractive that will make me worth paying for!
got the std. admin skins (http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/31409) added to the fun server, is only 7mb to download so its pretty gd considering its 8 skins, will get added to d2 server tomorrow some time :)

But Fax, it's actually boring being put onto a stacked team, then it's boring against a team that's stacked. Either way with this new Auto-Assign thing you'll get 1 stacked team every time. Being able to choose really made the server 10x better, as you could balance the teams out by choosing where to go.
It feels like you're either playing a war against Low skilled (Boring and pathetc), or you're playing against SALVO (Boring and frustrating).
Honestly, it's a lot more then just Auto-Assign, and it's making the server really boring.

People who currently donate don't want it there, and people who don't play on it wont play on it because of the Auto-Assign thing to begin with.

Being able to choose your team isn't a major bonus, you can do it on any normal server, so just that minor factor isn't going to persuade anyone.
Imo:
1) Admin skins, make them have SD-Gaming on the back, that way it's something only your server offers. Which then makes it more appealing to donate to you guys over everyone else. You can ask around on other sites on how to, or if anyone is willing to make it. I think it'll just be a matter of changing the .PSD file on an existing skin and changing the text from "Admin" to "SD-Gaming".
2) I guess being able to slap & shit people will be handy. This way you can deal with those people who insist on sitting on ramp with an Auto-Sniper every round ^^.
3) Normal admin abilities, kick, mute, cash, etc, etc.
4) Admins start money increase from £2,000 to £2,500. This way as long as they go to spec & back, they'll be able to buy AWP/AK+Armour every round. It's a safety net I guess. No more eco rounds for them.
5) Remove the auto-slay at the end of the round for them? Not sure if that's doable, but at least then they can save their weapons if the odds are stacked against them too high.

i'm planning on adding some admin skins, however changing just the skin doesn't work - for server side skins, as u need to modify the models aswell, I did try this the other day for a few hours and couldn't get it to work properly as you need to decompile / modify / recompile and it just wouldn't work :(
i'm gonna keep trying to get this as it would be friggin awesome :D

i would remove the auto slay but i had alot of ppl requesting it to help stop campers, although slaps in its place could help, although this would need ppl to maintain it alot more
Oh, I didn't know admins got an extra 2K. I always thought eXile just got an SMG all the time in the 1st round instead of buying armour LOL. What a nub :D
What I meant about the auto-slay was that admins just didn't get killed, whereas a normal player does. If you were to take it away entirely, it means someone will have to be constantly be policing it.
Have you removed the Auto-Assign yet? So I can go bax on ;o.
yea auto-assign is off atm, however the auto-slay thing is a bit tricky, as mani doesn't give the option to give immunity from it, so i'll need to either write a script myself or find one (although i couldn't find 1 myself the other day)

Hmm server is good atm, I like the changes. Only issue I still have with it is the point based rank system - I could be on for 10 minutes, say have + 60 points, and I get killed by some guy who just joined the server twice. Although he's not ranked he could be the best player ever, and by killing me twice puts my score down to about -1000

i think this clan should get a warcraft server then get addictive players to get on then do the ad about donating for admin =) like most community clan's

Just wanted to say like, the whole bodies turning into dust thing is harsh on shitheads with bad computers. Basically, when you spec somebody that dies you get a little glitch where your screen will jump until you go to spec somebody else. People with naab graphics cards/old drivers will get the hl2.exe bug.

Hah, glad I decided to check here then :P. I stopped playing SD 'cause of it, was ghey. Hard to find a replacement to it.
Apparently Fax is full of lies and never removed Auto-Assign :( .
